This can happen with a bent wheel. The bent wheel and tire can be balanced and when the tread and sidewall warms up, the tire seems to run smooth enough. But as the tire ages, the tread and sidewalls can stiffen. Then the tire runs rough all of the time. When you get the tire and wheel rebalanced, you will still have a shaker.
The trap is that with a tire that is out of round, things act the same. But things smooth out after a bit and you let it go, thinking that the tire gets flat spotted over night like nylon tires did many years ago. After a year or so when tbings get bad, you might find the cause, but then it is too late and you cannot get the tire manufacturer to make any adjustments. Michelin makes tires very accurately. I had a bad experience with P-Zeros.
So there are two possible causes above. Both can trap you 1/2 through the life of the tire.
