1) Thanks, Artisan sounds good, I will admit that you have me beat with the 35years; I’ve only been using it for 19.

2)The linkage went south at about 118k miles. I bough the car used at 89k miles and can’t confirm how the woman who had it before me drove. I was on a road trip at the time (CT to Minneapolis for the Heartland aids ride) I wasn’t driving the car when It started acting up it was a friend of mine; He doesn't drive a stick on a regular basis and might not have been as smooth with it as I am. I don’t blame him for to breaking but it could have pushed it over the edge. I was 600miles from home in the middle of Ohio when it broke. I didn’t have too many choices in getting it fixed. I got the car to a dealer after driving 70 in second gear at near redline. They replaced the entire linkage with the redesigned part. The part was about 270 and labor was about 300. I probably could have done better but in the middle of no ware I didn’t have a choice. After a week in a rental truck I got the car back. Getting the car into 5th isn’t the same as it used to be. I can’t move the shifter all the way to the right and then up to get it into 5th. I have to move it just to the right of 3rd. It took some getting used to the new position. Also after I put the car into reverse and turn it off I sometimes have to wiggle the shifter to get the key out.

Other things I’ve had to do.

Alternator bearing
Idler pulley
Clutch
Distributor and wires
Lots of gas tank work
Thermostat

I’m probably forgetting something. I’m to scared to add up all my receipts to see how much I’ve spent

These are just the major items. I didn’t include, breaks, shocks, batteries ect. ect. All the stuff that goes on any car

Good luck
