I purchased a rebuilt motor from Saab services (did a google search on saab convertible tonneau motor).
It looks like they are even cheaper now by $50 when I purchased. A word of warning - I haven't received my core charge refund yet. However, there was some confusion at my mechanic and I don't think Saab Services received the old motor until relatively recently. At any rate, I haven't called back to check. Plus, even at the advertised rate they are less than 1/2 the cost of a new motor.
My mechanic thought the rebuilt unit looked good and I used the top many times this summer with no problem. I want to say it was about $80 for them to install it for me, although there are posts on this site that will tell you how to do it yourself. It looked pretty time-consuming, though, so I was willing to pay the $$$ to have it done right.
Good luck.
Ian
