Since you're a fellow talladega owner i'll *try* to help. haha. Your dealer is right.........kind of.

If you replaced the clutch it would solve the problem, but common opinion is that it's not the clutch that's causing the stiffness. I've been trying to solve this for a long time and so have many others. The stiffness *seems* to be caused by the sleeve that the throwout bearing rides on. Also, it can be compounded by the lever arm not being lubed enough.

Last summer my clutch would get so stiff that my knee would really hurt, so i finally broke down and did the WD-40 trick. Fsik is the first to try this, i think. It involves taking the black plastic transmission viewhole cover off and spraying WD on the throwout bearing sleeve. You have to be careful to not spray WD onto the pressure plate/clutch disc area (and to not drop the WD tube into the tranny...). It works for the most part, but doesn't totally fix the problem. I also lubed up the lever arm as best i could. It's been a while since i've had the clutch go painfully tight on me.

So that's why i say the dealer is kind of right. They can replace the clutch and everything will get cleaned up and the clutch will be great for a while. Maybe days, maybe months......but usually it comes back. I know that when my transmission was taken apart for some seals to be replaced the clutch felt amazing when i got the car back. But within a few hours it was on it's way back to being it's usual stiff self.

I've been trying to find a solid answer to this problem for a while now, but haven't come up with one yet. Let me know if you have any insights or find some useful tidbit of info.
