Headgasket replacement & reseal transmission

I have just been informed by the Saab Dealer when having a 55K Service that the headgasket and transmission is leaking on my 97 900 SET. I was caught a little off guard when the dealer told me since the car has been regularly maintained and has low miles. They quoted me $3200 to replace the headgasket and reseal the transmission. I know the headgasket is a common problem but not sure about transmission. The dealer told me once the headgasket is replaced and the transmission is resealed it should be ok and the problems should not reoccur.
I bought the car new in 97 and have had all the recommended services performed by the dealer. This is the first Saab I’ve owned and I’m wondering if this is typical and I should start expecting more things to go wrong. Is this a potential money pit moving forward?
