I got an estimate on getting my rear bumper repaired/replaced. At first he entered my car as a 4-door, and said a new bumper cost $242 cdn. Then he realised it was a 2-door, and all of a sudden the bumper was $750, so he quoted a re-manufactured bumper at $395. I had assumed that there was no difference between the bumpers on the 2-door and 4-door. I have a parts catalogue, and it doesn't differentiate between the two, it only lists a black bumper (424107), and a paintable bumper (4480117). So question one, is there a different bumper for the 2-door and 4-door?
The second question, he quoted painting the bumper, even though my bumper is black. Looking at my bumper closely, I am quite sure it is not painted. I questioned him on this, and he insists that they are all painted. I'm beginning to wonder if this guy knows what he's talking about. Am I correct that a black bumper on a black car would be the unpainted one?
