Well, it's always a tough call without taking things apart to look for them failing, but i'd say it's your bushings based on the fact that it happens when it's cold. And you're right- it really is closer to a scraping sound. I think that in my car it's the lower anti-sway bar that does it, because i can feel the scrape/squeak in my feet if i press them up to the firewall when going over bumps. If you can live with the noise for a bit that would probably be best (cheapest...). If you have to have some front end work done in the next year then just get the mechanic to look at it when things are already all apart.
The bushings are there to cushion movements that aren't up and down, actually, Mostly twisting and front to back movements.
