I just picked up one of the Torqflow pulley substitutes this weekend to have as a spare. They listed 45973 as the part for the 92 Chevy G30 350/air. Is this the same as 45972? It is the correct hub diameter but the outside is about 1/2" larger that the original SAAB part. The quality doesn't look as good as the SAAB part either.
Some of the posts about pulleys suggest repacking them to extend their life so I tried this but the grease seems to leak out after a few months. It's very hard to get the cover back into place to get a good seal. My next experiment will be to glue the outside of the bearing covers to try to hold the grease in place. I can't complain too much because the date of manufacture stamp on the pulley is 8/95.
I wanted to try the shorter belt that Dean suggests but I have one of the 1038K6 original sized belt as a spare. Everything is ok for now but I keep a close watch on the belt & pulleys and listen for the "whine" sound
of them going dry.
