I'm Jon, just bought a 97' Talledega with turbo. Car has 75k miles, quick, repsonsive, but has some problems. The previous owner was a woman who knows nothing about cars and had it serviced by a bunch of crazy monkeys over in Berkley, CA.

I bought the car knowing that the clutch was not right, there was massive play and it seemed to grind gears unless I depressed the clutch fully to the floor. I talked to the mechanic that she has the car serviced at, he said to me: "Have you ever driven a SAAB before, this is how they drive." I told him that's BS. Either way, he replaced the cable. This did absolutely nothing to the car.

I took it upon myself to log on to the net, find out if this was an issue, looked at the tech board, and cured the situation:

Here's the deal:
The clutch cable is crazy, it's supposed to be self adjusting, but doesn't really work too well. I went to Rob's hardware over on Haight Street in San Francisco (great place to park my new yuppie mobile!) and found a rubber gasket. I placed the heat treated gasket between the retainer on the transmission and the self adjusting clutch mechanism. This cured all problems with clutch play and drives like a normal car.

Also, the dudes over in Berkley, when they replaced the old clutch cable, they neglected to skrew in the fuse box, reinsert the skrews on the kick panel, and forgot to insert the cable properly. I feel like tearing these goons apart.




This is where my question comes in:
Can i upgrade the NG900 97' clutch to hydrolic and can I upgrade the shift linkage in my transmission?
