The plug (AT) is on the inside middle of the of the tranny case wall. It is a big six-sided nut. When you open it the tranny fluid will flow like oil (since it is, just lighter oil).
Haynes says to do the following:
- Warm up the car (be careful fluid is hot)
- Open plug and drain)
- Clean and re-apply plug
- Fill with approx. amount that was drained
- Start car, in idle put it in D 15 secs, R 15 secs then P for 15 secs.
- Check level and fill to full cold level (fill through dipstick tube)
- Take car for a short run to warm up, repeat step above prior to checking fluid.
- Fill to hot level and your done.
I just did it in my 1996 900S 2.3 L at 63,000. I changed it once, and then did it again in about a week (since you only really change 1/2 each time), so I figure I am 75% new fluid now. From now on I will change it each oil change (1/2).
Hope this helped
