I have a small leak (maybe 1 ml-3ml per night) of an uncharacterized fluid. It seems that it could be power steering fluid, but it could also be coolant. I am not certain, but it is certainly viscous, so I am sure it is not water. I have a few questions hoping someone out there can help me:

1. Is there any recommended Engine Cleaning Solvent? Is there an aerosol I could spray on my engine compartment to clean the engine from dirt and grime in order to more easily visualize which areas are affected/leaking?

2. There is a tube comming from the Power Steering Pump (PSP), atleast I think is the PSP, that travels parallel to the lower Radiator hose. From the looks of it, it seems to be a pressurized tube/hose. It has a sticky substance/grime all around it. I am assuming this means there is a leak. Can this tube be changed without having to change the entire PSP? Is the grime in this area normal?

3. If the PSP is leaking and the leak leads to a loss of PSP fluid, I assume it would not harm anything other than the steering of the vehicle, am I wrong in this assumption? Can I simply ignore the leak and refill the PSP fluid every now and then?

4. Has anyone had problems with their PSP? How much does it cost to have someone repair it? Can this be a DIY job?
