My son was involved in a car accident about a month ago. He was in his 95 Conv (Non Turbo) and he rear ended another car which stopped in the merge lane (Another long story - so he says - lol).

Went to the dealer today to pick up his car, they replaced the radiator, front bumper, headlights, AC Unit and related parts.

When I started the car to see if everything was working - the low coolant light came on - they topped off the coolant and we were set to go.

I drove the car off the lot and went about 1/2 mile to the interstate, were I proceeded to put the car through her gears. Upon hitting 5th Gear (around 70 mph), the car seemed to have stalled for a brief second, then commenced to loosing power. My wife who was following in our 9/5 noticed a puff of black smoke upon exceleration. Now, I started hearing a metalic noise - and I quickly put the clutch in and coasted the car to a stop. We called for a tow and took the car back to the dealership - were they will be looking at it on Monday.

Any thoughts as if maybe the accident could have shoved the transmission a bit - thus bending the cam or ???? Don't know really what is wrong with her yet - just trying to get ideas as to what to expect or possibilities. I am fearing the worst - but maybe it might be something minor? In addition - I do have an extended warranty on it - so that might be a life saver as well. The oil has been changed regularly and it has been serviced well - We have all the records from the previous owner. It has 93K on it.

Thanks to all!

Steve
