In terms of the vertical component of road shock etc.... The dymamic forces go through the tire, wheel, hub, strut, shock to the upper strut mount. The bushings have no effect on that. They are all at 90 degrees to that component of movement. Severe loads such as pot holes will create fore/aft loads, but these will pale in comparison to the overall shock to the vehicle from the vertical componet.

The trailing arm with the VRK couples fore/aft shocks to the trailing arm with a poly bushing and then to the chassis with a steel spherical bearing. There is not harshness with that, so a poly instead of the steel bushing would be fine as well. A firm bushing here resists changes to the toe-in during heavy braking or acceleration. This contributes to greater tracking stability.

The lateral control arm has a hard mount to the hub via the steel ball joint. The other end has rubber to the subframe. The lateral shock load forces are very small unless you hit a curb. So using poly there should not be an issue at all. The poly bushing there is very hard as poly goes. This is because the cornering forces can be very high. Resisting deformation of this bushing will preserver the steering geometry in hard cornering which should greatly improve things.

I really think that there are no issues at all with the poly bushings as far as ride comfort and road vibrations are concerned. Poly on the front sway bar may make it much more effective, and that could transmit vibrations to the chassis more than rubber.
