I just fixed mine yesterday. It is easier to work on if you remove the whole seat out of the car. Only four bolts that hold it down. Once you have it out of the car you will need to remove the bottom seat cover.
I found this on this site I think:
Seat Bottom Removal
I've removed the cover from the seat bottom to fix the seat heater but I've never done the back... Anyway, here are some tips for the seat bottom:
If it's cold where you live, remove the entire seat (just four bolts) and bring it indoors. It also helps give you more room to work.
To remove the bottom you first need to remove the plastic side bolster that contains the electric seat controls. There are three screws as I recall. One is behind a snap fit cover near the intersection of the bottom and back (where the seat would pivot if it was a coupe). Two more bolts are on the backside of the seat, one is easy to get at from the front, the other was a pain... Once you have removed the side bolster, just move it aside.
Now, reach under the rear portion of the seat (from the backseat area) and you'll find three "flaps" that hook onto the horizontal wires underneath. Just pull the flaps forward and unhook them (it's less difficult than it sounds and it's readily apparent what you have to do if he seat is removed from the car so you can turn it upside down).
Finally, just press around the edges to release the seat bottom which is held in place via cardboard stiffeners. This will also be readily apparent once you remove the seat bottom or if you have a spare to look at.
Installation is the reverse of removal! ;-)
Once I had my cover removed I found a little burned spot on the left hand side about where your Butt cheek rests. The break seems to be consistent with most everyones problems in here. All you have to do is splice some new wire onto the break and then solder it together. Reinstall the seat and it should work. As a note. There are hogrings that hold the bottom cover in place to a few metal rods in the cushion. I commpletely removed these and used small Nylon zip ties back in their place. They will hold just as good and are a 100% easier to work with.
