I think that you will find that the aluminum core is secured to the plastic end tanks. If the leak is at that interface, you may be able to fix the leak by crimping the bent over aluminum bits tighter. Vice grips work well. But accessing these crimps might require removal of the rad. So you have to look and see if the leak is in that joint, or in the core.
