After an exhaustive and intensive six month car search (although I'd been casually looking for a new car for about two years now), I've finally found the one... A '98 SET. I took it in for an independent pre-purchase inspection this morning. My mechanic, who's been working on cars for my family for about the last 15 years, gave it a huge thumbs up and said I found a good one and a great purchase. Looks like it's in great shape and should serve me well for a good while (that's the plan, right?).

Oh yah, I don't own it yet... But I've got the deposit down and I'm going to the dealership with a down payment when my salesman is back (figures today would be his day off).

As an automotive enthusiast who never had an auto to be enthusiastic about, I'm really looking forward to owning, and improving, the '98 SET. Having been driving it for the last couple of days on long-term test drive, I've gotta say I'm impressed by what a capable car it is, and I can only suspect it has a lot of potential for being even better. I'm also surprised by what a difference a couple of model years make. The '98 SET seems like a pretty big improvement on the '96 SET my friend had.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say thanks to Rob, Mark, Mike G and Dean for their input to my post yesterday... and that I look forward to working with the NG900 community and working to improve my new car...

She even has a tentative name... Ilsa.

even though I'm sure everyone knows what a '98 SET sedan looks like, I'll post pictures of her in this thread anyways.. Just gotta wait until I get home and can transfer the photos from my cam.
