It reduces the signal from the MAP sensor, so when on boost, the ECU goes for higher boost levels. The ECU corrects the AF ratio via seeing what the O2 sensor puts out. This works ok for up to 15 PSI, after that there is not enough fuel pressure to deliver the needed fuel withing the stock software of the ECU.
You can get some of the same benefits with a resistor mod, but the boost guage will read strange. The device that you see, changes the voltage ratios and ofset to make the boost indicator look more normal.
You can get power with a MBC, and faster spoolup, and strong in the 1st two gears. But the MBC does have the fuel cut issues in cool and cold air with conventional setups. I pretty well had all of the licked it seemed, then some arse totals the 95SET. That device seems too expensive for what it does, but you don't have to fiddle with it.
