Based on my experience, 15,000 miles is not often to change spark plugs if you want optimum performance. I change the spack plugs on my 1998 900SET on my Alfa Romeo Spider every 15,000 miles.
The Saab turbo uses the spark plugs as a sensing element as well as a spark plug so changing them often makes sense. The Alfa tends to oil foul the spark plugs in around town driving, so it makes sense to change them often.
You will need to look at your driving style and determine what makes sense for you.
