Hello everyone, I want to thank everyone for your posts in regard to changing the antenna mast. The easiest way, I foud yesterday, is to go into the hatch area, unscrew the one screw on the speaker and pull the carpet away from the side of the inside.
Unscrew the antenna assembly from the car, unscrew the nut outside of the car, and unplug the power and antenna wire. Pull the whole assembly out of the car. Now back out the two tiny screws on either side of the base of the mast that holds the antenna. You can pull the mast from the assembly. (do not take the power wires off, it is not needed). You can then push the antenna out of the bottom. (everyone wants to pull it out of the top. I found that many people spent a ton of time trying this). Once it is out, turn the stereo on. (you'll have to screw the tiny screws back on because SAAB decided to use these as the grounds). Feed the plastic cord into the motor and shut the stereo off. BAM!!! you are in the money. Put it back together and you are back in the game with your NPR, Stern, or whatever lights the fire under your *SS.
Thanks for reading.
