Now the tensioner does last a long time and rarely fails. And the tensioners pully, made from stamped steel, is comparatively large and its bearing lasts as long as the vehicle that we know, given the age of the fleet. At Eeuroparts you can get the pully by it self, or the tensioner complete with pully. And they claim that these are 'Saab' parts, not aftermarket knockoffs.
The tensioner can be damaged if a round tool or a large screwdriver is used in its socket. There have been one or two reports of the socket wall breaking out. So use some 1/2"x1/2" square hollow steel tube from the hardware store, cut to a useful length. When gun-blue'd it will look good and remain rust free.
