Exhaust problem update!!

OK, I checked the system and the flexible pipe from the CAT to the first intermediate muffler was damaged at the flexible joint. I replaced it and used new clamps but the noise was still there somehow different. I discovered that although it is easy to swap things with these SAAB clamps it really is pain to get them back on so that the system is well sealed. I used some paste and redone the clamps and now the noise is gone. I been told that the CAT will also follow soon by braking up at the flexible joint. Is this a common fault? Also my exhaust seems to be a bit loose. Will swapping the rubber fittings make it more tight?
