I found +/- 215 posts on this subject. Posts by "Dean" are exceptionally informative. The belt is easily replaced on your 2.3L, vs 2.1L, engine by loosening the tensioner with a 1/2" breaker bar and pinning it with a nail or drill bit. Then you remove the belt and fit the replacement following the same routing. The bigger issue is the two idler pulleys that go bad and should be replaced every 45K or so as part of your preventive maintenance program. The bearings are not up to the task and lose their lubricant. When a pulley fails it seizes and shreds your belt. You then lose alternator, cooling and power steering. Failure to pull over immediately can cook the engine.
