Thanks for the quick response.

Oil was the first thing I checked - it's fine. Oil drops on the floor are the usual - nothing serious.

You can hear it from inside the car, but I did have the top down. The sound goes with the revolutions of the engine, and sounds like it's coming from under the cover over the valve covers, which worries me that it's a valve or a lifter or something along those lines. Seems odd it just started after sitting so much and it has been so cold. I've had the car for 4 1/2 years and it's ever made THIS particular noise. Numerous others, but not this one.

I'm thinking maybe the bearings in the water pump are cold and not used to sitting (I seem to recall a similar sound on another car I owned).

I'm only guessing - like I said I'm no mechanic!

Maybe I should take it for an engine flush and oil change, even though it's only been about 2K, but 5-6 months? Maybe I should drive it for a few days? Might be nice to get out of that Camry for a bit!
