From your analysis, I'd think that your engine may have some damage but probably (hopefully) not too severe. At this point I'd personally do a few things. That is to inspect your filter the same way next time you change it, to see if debris is still accumulating. If you still see debris then that would be a sign that something is still wearing excessively and has the potential to snowball. Second, I'd pull the valve cover off to inspect the cam lobes and gears. Since the cam lobes are one of the highest stress points in the engine, they would most likely be the first to suffer from lack of lubrication. I know that from personal experience. If the lobes are not completely smooth on their contact surfaces, you will have found the source of most of the fine debris in your filter. I will admit concern about your oil consumption. Unless you really got the engine hot when it was run low, I wouldn't think that your valve seals would be the root cause of consumption. I would however have to wonder about potential damage to the piston rings and cylinder walls. Both tend to suffer from lack of lubrication almost as readily as the cams. I'd stick a borescope in the sparkplug hole to get a look at the cylinder walls while you've got the DI casseste off inspecting the cams. Scored cylinders would make me sell the car quickly. Excessively worn cams I'd replace and drive, continuing the dissection routine for several oil changes.
