My seat heater died on me for the 8th time in two years, so I'm about ready to toss it out the window and put in a new one. My question is, there are two different versions depending on VIN of the car, what is the difference between these? Was there actually a change in the seat, or did they supposedly improve the heater element? I find the latter unlikely, because I theoretically already have the newer one, and it's crap. Maybe the older one is actually better.

Another curious thing is that Europarts.com lists the first one (4232484)as being for mid way through the 1997 model year production, VIN2004709 and below. My car is VIN20068xx, but its build date is 9/96. Seems to me that would have been very early for 1997 production.

Lastly, can someone confirm that p/n 4804324 is a seat heater? My dealer gave me a price of about $90, the same as the other p/n but says that it's brake pads. (?)
