Trouble with boost and CEL - Ideas?

Hey everyone - I'm having a little trouble spooling up to full boost in higher gears. Third, fourth and fifth seem to get the same amount of boost pressure as does first and second - about 3/4 into the yellow zone. When I first shift into third, the boost pressure will go up where it is suposed to be, but then drop back a little into the yellow. And now, this AM, the CEL light turned on. I have been developing a small leak in the rear muffler that I've been trying to hold off on until spring. And, I had the head gasket done about 6-7K ago.
Could this be the result of the muffler leaking and the O2 sensor freaking out? Or is the bypass valve starting to fail? Maybe a vacuum leak? Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated!
