First oil change after using magnetic drain plug

History of car: 94 900S, 2.3 N/A engine, Manual Transmission, 90,000 miles. I bought it new in 94, my wife and I finally got our 1st SAAB! Since then we have had a 00 9-3, and now have a 03 9-5 Wagon. I have done all maintenance myself, DIY stuff. Oil changes (Mobil 1 10W-30 every 5K miles), plugs (NGK every 30K), distributor, fluids, filters, etc. Only major work at dealer (who I like) has been a clutch replacement. Replaced muffler and brakes.
I did an oil change 5K ago and replaced the drain plug with the magnetic one Dean had suggested and used on his VW. It was expensive, but construction was superb, you could tell this is a quality product. Now it was time for my first oil change after installing plug.
Magnetic end had a small amount of brown/black residue. Wiped off easily. After that, examining the stuff, there are some *very* small little slivers of metal, about the size of tiny wood splinters. I was very happy, after cleaning off the plug, the magnetic end looked good as new. No piting, no scratches, nothing at all, looked brand new. Very happy, this is a great product to get a feel for your engine oil.
Car runs great, looks great, I will drive it until it explodes. Gotta admit, I do love driving the 9-5!
