Hi all. I've got a '96 900SEt, 167k miles. The driver's seat (black leather) is in bad shape ( was like that when I bought it). There are a couple of holes in the seat, and it is badly cracked. The back has some pretty severe cracking too. I had a leather repair expert (creative colors international, Milwaukee area) look at it and he quoted $105 make it "look like new, and last longer than you'll have the car". the web site is http://www.CreativeColorsIntl.com
He would replace a couple of really bad sections, strip 80% of the die, fill the cracks and refinish the seat. It sounds suspiciously cheap, but comes with recommendations from co-workers.
Anybody have experience with this type of repair? Also, what are my other options? Are black seat skins/entire seats easily available salvage, and how much can I expect to pay (either for the skin alone, or for an entire seat)? What about having an upholstery/leather shop make a new skin, copied off of mine? I hate to put seat covers over the seats, as the rest of the leather seats look pretty good.
Any advice, recommendations, experiences would be appreciated.
thanks loads,
jesse
