Set-up: 900SE v6, 103,000 miles, auto tranny. Weather: 10 deg. overnight, sunny this a.m.
Allright: driving to the train, after about 2 miles, the ACC goes to "off" and won't go on again. Stop/start the car, it kicks in for a second then goes to "off" again won't go on. Keep driving about 1 block, "ABS" light goes on, then "Check Gearbox". Pull over, stop/start the car, start to drive, "check gearbox" again, car goes into "limp home" mode. Pull over, the car dies in "park" but all the dash-warning lights stay on. Wait 1 minute, start again, all is fine.
I took it back home (about 2 miles) no problem, gave the engine the once-over, no obvious problems. Just drove it to the train and (wife) back again, no problems.
The last month or so, when starting, there's been a scraping noise from the serpentine belt, that lasts for about 1/2 minute, but its been real cold here also.
I'm thinking, if this is possible, a worn pulley on the alternator, so it goes in and out? Which would send wacko electrical signals to the ACC, ABS, AT? There is a lot of oil down in that area due to leaking oil pan gasket. It's not making that whine that alternators make before they go, nor did the car just die cold as when alternator's go (I've got a lot of experience in this from my previous Ford) so I don't think its the alternator itself.
Help! and thank you in advance.
