Value of 900 SE Conv.

I am the previously proud owner of a '95 900SE Conv. V6. I say previously proud due to an incident yesterday. Because of a family situation, I felt that I was forced to trade my beloved Saab in on a new Ford pickup. Before my wife and I went to the dealer, we consulted the KBB value for trade-in purposes and found the value to be just under $8K, a pittance, or so I felt.
When the dealer offered $4.5K for the Saab on trade, I was astounded and perplexed that the dealer could not or would not budge from that really stupid price. I left, feeling quite insulted and went to another dealer who proceeded to offer $3.5K. Needless to say, I did not trade the Saab, but purchased a pickup outright isntead.
Now, this happened in the South and I realize that Saabs don't sell well in the South, but this is crazy...... or is it me that is crazy. Can someone please explain to me the reason for this seemingly huge inconsistency in value. Even Edmonds felt the car should trade in at almost $7K. It is in really good shape, 82K miles, no oil leaks, conv top works well, good tires, etc. I've owned it over two years and paid over $10K for it when I purchase it. Now, it seems that all the value has gone out of it. If I choose to sell it outright, what should I try to get for it?
In despair,
Dan
