Potential RUST spot on your NG900 & Q?

I have found a potential spot on the car that may rust if not treated. On my 98 900SE it's already started to rust but can be saved and touched up. I will try my best to describe the location and how it happens. It involves the black piece of plastic trim that runs along the edge of the windshield up to the roof of the car (top of windshield). One on each side of the windshield. The very top end of that plastic trim is tight against the paint of the body (roof). What happens is that when the trim is exposed to the sun it expands about 1mm to 1.5mm. And then contracts when in the shade (cools down). So this plastic trim is grinding against the paint and scrapes it off in time, to the metal. The trim is very tight to the paint. On my driver side it's down to the primer. On the passenger side it's rusting. It is easy to repair and paint and is in an un-noticeable spot. That is why I wanted to inform everyone because it's hard to see.
I plan on fixing this when the weather get's a bit warmer for the touch up paint.
In order to fix this, I need to remove that black plastic trim. ???How do I do this??? I have pealed back the weather stripping to expose the mounting of the trim. I do not know even how to go about removing the trim. I don't want to break it with force. Can someone explain to me how this is removed. I also see some whit plastic 'things' by the trim under the weather stripping. I did not see anything for this in the Haynes book.
Help?
Hope this may help you catch the rust early if it started.
Thanks
