just got my 96 900SET back after the guys at viking saab in maryland installed a viggen clutch, new clutch cable, NG900 linkage upgrade, and synthetic mtf0063 gear oil. initial impressions are that the car shifts 150% better..(: the clutch is grabbing so quick and tight that its like learning to drive again!....i think i was so used to driving on a worn-out/slipping clutch...shifting shows noticeable improvement with new linkage and gear oil...high rpm/highway shifting is no problem, but lower speeds, from stoplights and traffic, etc will take some getting used to on the new clutch...
they also replaced all of the infamous leaking trans seals...eric noted that the release bearing was horrible due to the leaking input shaft seal (really gummed up from leaking oil)...
had some issues with the first clamp (where the clutch cable comes out of the firewall, the first clamp was loose, providing just enough play to screw up clutch engagement, etc)...eric caught it though, and everything is functioning great now....
would definitely recommend any of these repairs/upgrades...now its time to add some horses and see what the clutch can handle!!...(:
*on a side note, eric and jay from vikingsaab.com were great to deal with and i would highly recommend them for all living in the northern virginia/DC/maryland metro area...they really enjoy what they do and it shows!!...thanks guys!
/eric
