you have a 95SET

I think that you are seeing the steel pipe that routes gasses from the valve cover to the turbo. This is the postitive crankcase ventilation.

I don't know how much it will be in your way. It connects to turbo cast intake elbow down below at its bend with a compression nut of some sort. I never did disturb that.

The hose from the valve cover to that pipe will be swollen and poorly fitting if the original. I tighted it up with nylon tie-wraps. The nylon fitting in the valve cover is very brittle with age. Removing the hoses can bust it. It would be good to have an new one on hand, perhaps the rubber gromlet too. Getting the small hose off of it that goes to a one-way valve and then to the TB is almost impossible. If you are replacing that hose, you will have to carefully cut it away to avoid breaking the nylon. You might be able to just swing the VC back with that hose left connected, or remove the hose from the TB end and leave it connected to the nylon piece fitted to the VC. I renewed that hose, still had the original nylon fitting.

The screws that secure the VC are torx ?#40? You will need a bit to get those out. You can have a look at the cam lobes while you are there and have a peak at the chain and sproket teeth.

Now would be the time to check the torque on the head if you were so inclined. My 95SET never had any head gastet problems and I had my boost jacked up for longer than anyone else with a MBC.

have fun!
