96 and newer cars are OBDII equipped, meaning a standardized diagnostic system on all cars sold in the US. The cheapest way to approach this is at a large auto parts store if possible. Here, (Atlanta) Auto Zone will read the stored codes and reset the computer for no charge. Reset the light once. If it comes on again within a few weeks you have a problem that should be addressed by a mechanic familiar with SAABs (not necessarily the dealer). If it does not come back on you have saved some money. I've heard of an Audi dealer who charges $180 to read the codes and reset the light. It is not uncommon for the computer to detect a fault and trip the light for something that is not a real problem. Opening the gas cap with the engine running will do this.
