There are plug in lights in the back of the unit that either are burnt out or not making good connection. The easiest way to get the SID out is to slide something VERY slender in the space above the SID about an inch in from each end to trip the clips which hold the SID in. Either that or get the Clarion radio removal tool and first take out the radio and then use the same tool to remove the SID. Keep the SID plugged in and then putz with the lights until you see which ones are either not making connection or are burnt out. I'm pretty sure you can get the bulbs from the dealer without being raped too badly. Good luck . . . just be gentle removing the SID.
