Dean, your ignition switch diagnosis looks spot on

This morning's "episode" was about a block after I pulled out of my driveway. Hit a small pothole and heard the chime, all the lights came on for about 2 seconds and the engine died. Then all the lights went out. When I put on the brakes (to stop the car so I could restart it), the "Check OK" light came on in the SID. So "Ignition switch" sounds like the culprit. Is there a foolproof diagnosis, or should I just have it replaced as a precaution? Not interested in having the car crap out on the fr3eeway at 70, or in the middle of a L.A. traffic jam! So, how much does this job cost? (Checked Haynes - this is well beyond my DIY skills) Also, does replacing the switch also change the key cylinder or is the failing part below there somewhere? Sorry for so many questions.
/Geoff
