Hi.. I posted a couple messages earlier and got some advice from Dean and Swedecar. (Thanks!)
I was experiencing a knashing noise coming from the crankshaft pulley location on my 96' 900S Turbo. It is not the belts/pulleys. Thought it could be the harmonic balancer, took off the crankshaft pulley started car and the noise was still there. So I took off that HUGE snap ring to get to the oil pump. The gears looked fine. I can only take out the 2 gears and the centerpeice. Is there any way to take out the oil pump housing (so I can check the surface) or can only the gears be taken out this way?
I think I have a balance chain issue. (I took off the valve cover and the timing chain was tight.) Is there any way to check the balance shafts/chain/tensioner without ripping apart the engine?? .
I'm sad. :(
