You should never depress the petal to the floor! Use 1/2 strokes.
When doing 4 pads, pump the pistons out as you go along to reduce the pump back and tendancy for the reservior to overflow.
When you do all four pads the initial braking will be quite poor, and the system will feel very spongy until you heat the pads and they get consolodated.
There is no need to bleed brakes when you change pads, that operation will not introduce air into the system. But you can do it as part of maintenance. Some start bleeding brakes because they feel soft, but its just the pads not being bedded in.
If these are new pads on old rotors the bedding in can take quite a bit longer as the rotors are no longer flat.
