Okay, I have a couple of problems with my 1996 900s. First, the speedometer does not work below 50 mph, it hasn't for about a month. Once you get above 50 it jumps from it's resting spot at 0 all the way to somewhere near the correct speed, though usually not the correct speed. Any ideas?

Second Problem- Just happened today, much more serious, there is a terrible sound coming from the left hand side of the inside of the engine. It isn't the pulleys driving the belt on the left, it is coming from the inside of the engine. The sound is almost like a bad bearing although it is not constant, it is intermittent. Otherwise it runs fine, guages are fine, no computer warnings, has same amount of power as always, idles fine (other than the noise). I have only used Mobil 1 full synthetic oil every 3,000 miles. Oil is on the full line. It is sitting at the mechanic's shop right now for him to check monday morning. Any ideas right off hand of things to watch out for. Please don't tell me it is a $1,000+ fix.
