It can be fixed, but it's not what I would guess is a simple DIY fix. If you are feeling adventurous, go ahead and attempt it. These instructions are based on similar displays, as I have not taken this one apart. It pretty much has to be similar though. Just be careful not to proceed past a point where you aren't confident you can get it back together again.

Remove the SID from the car and open it up. There will be a PCB connected to the display via elasomeric contacts. These are rubber-like pads that have alternting strips of conductive and non-conductive material, kind of like zerbra stripes, but very small. The PCB and display will be held together by either
a)screws (if you are lucky)
b)metal tabs (if you are less lucky)
c)plastic clips (same as above)
d)permanently attached via plastic piece (you are screwed)

Get the two pieces apart (except in the case of (d), and peel the zebra strips off both the display and PCB. Clean all contact points with 99% isopropyl alcohol.
Re-assemble.
