One car, 96 900T, with intermittent slow start (long cranking) was fixed by replacing the fuel pump.
This is expensive though and should not be done on a hunch. The reason why we found it was that the pump finally died and when the new pump was in, the long crank was gone.

The temp sensor number you have is not for fuel enrichment at all, but for the temp gauge and cooling fans.

The sensor in question should the one between number 3 and 4 intake runner. P/N 9137803

DI is always a suspect (together with right plugs) if old.

Thank you, but no. I have no plans to open a hot line of some sort. The biggest reason why I spend time on this board right now is because I can.

Car business have been really slow since I opened my own shop 3 month ago and instead of just sitting here rolling my thumbs, I can help other people and at the same time get some visibility.

I remember my first struggling years of learning how to repair cars at my parents house. How I would have loved to have someone to ask for help.

As you also might have noticed, I try aim my answers to people that get stuck with in debt problems. Easy questions gets lot of answers from many others that have "been there done that".

Back to your car, a problem like that is never easy (even for a seasoned tech) since it involves several parameters (hot weather, time the car have to sit and so forth).

Another long shot advice is that the starter draws too much amp and leaves little left for spark system. I have seen that happen before.
But that the repair is just as funky as throwing in a fuel pump on a hunch.

I had a Mazda 929 in Sweden, with carburettor and points. That damn car would not start by key, but fired right up on a push start. I hooked two, three batteries up to it and the engine was cranking over like no tommorrow, but it would not start.
Sometimes, the engine would catch when I turned the key off (like on the last residual reveloution of engine).
I put a rebuilt starter in and it worked like a beauty, (for a year).
Installed another used starter and it worked great until I sold the car years later.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anders
