I'm curious about what types of oil other V6 owners use.

I use Castrol Syntec Blend every 3,000 mi. Normally use 10W-30. Switched to 10W-40 last change last weekend as a summertime experiment for the 90+ weather coming soon. Noticed no difference whatsover (but it's cool still). Did not have hot weather problems before; this was just a whim.

Filters: genuine Saab. (OK, using a Bosch "premium" filter right now because I ran out of my stock.)

The car was run on regular dyno oil very 3,000mi until I took over at 125,000mi. I was considering switching to full synthetic oil, but 2 concerns: (1)unsure about whether I might induce oil leakage by switching since seals may expand or contract a little, and (2)not totally comfortable with leaving a filter on the car for 6000-8000mi, regardless of the oil.

I currently have a leaking oil pan gasket, but no other major leaks or burning.
