and it was easy. After two posts to the board with no replies, I was afraid of what i was getting into. Maybe this isn't a common problem? Or it's so easy to figure out that I shouldn't have had to ask?
Basic problem was that the glass would not maintain position, and was dropping from the sealed position and making noise. Turns out the bolts that hold the glass into the mechanism were loose.
I pulled the trim strip on the inside - four screws along the front edge, and two pop-in springsteel fasteners at the back ends. - Careful pulling it off, as the plastic is prone to snap at the front corners :-(. I positioned the glass, then tightened down the bolts( 3 on each side, 6 total), and the problem seems to be fixed.
There isn't any reason they SHOULD be loose for proper operation of the sunroof, is there? I ran it, and all seemed to be good, so I sprayed some white lithium grease on the track and buttoned it up.
