Hmmmm... Alfa v6 owner perhaps? Hopefully you don't know what it is like to lose a timing belt on an Alfa.
Luckelly the cost to replace a Saab engine is is fractional.
Although, at risk of flames, nothing can compare to the alfa v6.

Having said that, I am an Alfa 164QV 12v owner, and I recently purchase a 1995 900 Convertible for my fiance.
Only to discover shortly after that the top stopped working. :^(

I have not had the chance to look into it yet, however, there are no grinding sounds, so I am hopeful.

This one is an automatic transmission (unfortunately) and does not have the v6 (unfortunately?) or the turbo (unfortunately!).
Although it does have heated leather seats and a convertible top, which is all that she cared about.
It only has about 76,000 miles on it so I would imagine it has a lot of life left. I would like to think that it would spend that life with a functional top, no?

So, moral, have the convertible top mechanics inspected closesly.

Also, if anyone has any advice for me before I dig into this, I would appreciate it.
