On auto, it will blast the fan to cool down or heat up fast, until the cabin reaches the selected temp., then the fan slows to maintain.
I've had problems where, in the spring when the outside temp is like in the mid-60's, the a/c will not cool properly. First, hit, I think "off" and "auto" at the same time (check your manual for the procedure). This will "reset" the acc, and for me has resulted in better cooling in these circumstances, and, if there is a fault, the screen will read a number, otherwise, it should show "0" when done, keep an eye on it.
Others here, myself included, have been known to dump some new R134A into the system in the spring, search for some of Dean's posts on reading the sightglass and adding cooling stuff. Good luck.
