And your vehicle and DI have how many miles?
I suggest finding someone who will let you borrow a red DI and see what that does.
Plugs gapped to .035" ?
What do the plug deposits look like?
Injectors clean?
Medium RPM's will have higher boost pressures than high RPMs. And the higher boost pressures increase the spark breakdown voltage for any given gap. The result can be no spark at all or a spark that tracks over the electode insulator. If the plugs are dark, tracking is a real concern. Smaller plug gaps are often used with increase boost turbo charged engines.
High boost pressures which increase the spark gap break down voltages also increase the voltage stress on the coil secondaries. And the seconaries can and do fail. Higher voltages can only make such things worse.
It would not be considered impossible for a 4 or 5 year DI to have problems on a stock vehicle. Your service is more severe.
And as always, if your keeping the vehicle, sooner or later you will need a new DI, so better to have a new one as a spare in the truck and save yourself some money and a breakdown plus tow truck. That could spoil your day. So why not get the spare on hand now and then you can see if it will also cure the problem. All DI's fail, they are a wear item.
