Install the cluch cable sheating into the bracket on transmission. Grab the round aluminum disc and pull forward. You will see that the automatic adjustment allows the cable to be pulled out quite a bit, as soon as you let go, the adjuster takes up the slack.
You can do this manouver as many times as you need to bring the aluminum disc over the clutch arm on transmission.
Maybe you haven't got the other end of cable sheating far enough into the firewall?
