I would never try to paint anything other than tiny rock chips with a touch up paint/brush. You can get a spray can custom matched to the car colour at a paint place if you can leave the gas cap door or something. Once you have the area prep'd, mask off just the spot you want to paint. Give it a couple coats, or however many it takes to look good. The next part is a little trickier, because it's a bit of an art. Remove the masking, and do a few light sprays around a larger area surrounding the post you painted, to cover up the sharp paint line created by the area you masked. It won't cover it completely, but you'll end up with something that looks a lot better than what you have now.
