Mechanics hear my distribution

Last few months two different mechanics (one at a saab dealer and one independent Saab specialist) told me they hear the distribution of my Saab 900S 2.3L from 1996 (180000km).
Both mechanics also immediatly told me not to worry because "they" all have the same problem.
When do I have to get worried? I don't hear my timing and/or balance shaft chains rattle at startup or when the motor is cold. But when to different mechanics say they hear my distribution I do get a little worried.
I change oil and filter once per 10000km with 10W40 oil.
The first owner did not change the oil during june 2001 and december 2002 (he drove 25000km with the same 10w40 oil). For the rest of the cars life it's been well maintained by Saab.
Didn't SAAB change the distribution in the beginning of 1996? Or is my 2.3L from 1996 also in the dangerzone?
