I'm pretty sure it won't - if not for physical limitations. I believe even the early 9-3 models used the Pioneer head unit which has to be able to communicate via CAN bus to the engine computer. This is what everyone talks about when the radio (and changer for that matter) are "married" to the car. Hence there is no anti-theft code in 9-3 and 9-5 radios because they simply won't work if placed in another car - unless they are first "divorced" from their car.
This is a common problem people have when buying 9-3 and 9-5 radios from "junkyards" on eBay - they might have the radio in one piece and in great condition, but unless it was first "divorced" from the existing car, it won't be any use to anyone. Some say that with the VIN# of the existing car alone, you may be able to get it divorced without it being "in-situ".
